i-Grape’s research, development and innovation activities are related to the company’s vision of being a benchmark in the generation of ingredients for food, pharmaceutical and veterinary use, using natural raw material sources such as by-products from agro-industrial activities, through the use of sustainable and environmentally responsible production processes.

Specifically, the company will advance in the development and industrial validation of the research carried out by the R&D Department, in collaboration with the research group LIDSA (Laboratory for Research and Development of Analytical Solutions) of the USC in bioactive substances that have a greater market potential due to their novelty, commercial value and strong demand.

Thus, the R&D department is actively connected with the needs raised by customers, with the aim of responding in a direct, agile and efficient way to the new market demands in bioactive ingredients of natural origin.

Strengths

i-Grape is a spin-off from the University of Santiago de Compostela that has a patented process for the production of polyphenolic extracts with proven antibacterial, fungicidal and antioxidant activity from grape marc.

All our products are manufactured under the highest quality standards, tested with controls of the raw materials, the intermediate products, the final product and the production process.

This company participates in the PRINCIPIA program of the GALICIAN INNOVATION AGENCY (GAIN), subsidized by the Ministry of Economy, Employment and Industry, through the Resolution of April 24, 2018 establishing the regulatory bases for the concession, subject to concurrence competition, grants for the promotion of hiring technologists to carry out R+D+i activities in companies and research organizations in Galicia.

I-GRAPE LABORATORY S.L. has been a beneficiary of the European Regional Development Fund whose objective is to promote research, technological development and innovation, and thanks to which it has been able to carry out the development of a new product and its viability study to support the creation and consolidation of innovative companies. This action has taken place between December 2019 and June 2020. It had the support of the InnoCámaras Programme of the Santiago de Compostela Chamber of Commerce.

Redesign and optimization of production processes for the valorization of waste from the agri-food industry and its transformation into marketable products with antibacterial and antioxidant capabilities, adding high value to the industry.

This plan is funded by the Xunta de Galicia, through grants awarded by the Axencia Galega de Innovación, as part of the InnovaPeme 2023 program.

Eureka Innowwide is a programme funded by the European Union as part of the European Partnership on Innovative SMEs. Selected European SMEs are financed with €60 000 for a six-month market viability study in an international market. This first call funded 50 projects, with up to 25 of those involving counterparts in Africa and the other 25 for North and South America, the Middle East or Asia-Pacific. I-Grape’s competitive proposal for expansion in the Mexican market managed to be among the 25 selected.
